My name is Matthew Donald Hewlett, aka outback126, and I will be your host. My homeland is America, but I feel a strange bond with Oz, The Land Down Under, Austrailia. I'm a poet, a counselor, a friend, a novelist, a t-shirt designer, a musician, a songwriter, and now an artist.

Quite an array of talents, don't ya think?

You see, I am a very spirtitual Christian. I know that all talents, hidden and realized, come from God. But I have found that although these talents have been within me all my life, it takes something else, something from this realm, to awaken them. Sometimes all it takes is a kind, helpful, loving friend. In my case it was several.

I've always loved art. Veiwing art, learning about art, learning about artists, seeing art created. I've always wanted to be an artist, but after one year of high-school art class with not-so-good grades, I had all but given it up. The past few years, however, the majority of my friends at school have been artists. I feel their talent was contagious, and their mere presence has inspired me to draw and paint, and I am, to my own surprise, rather good. These friends, namely Cat, Shannon, Sam, Hannah, Miriah, and Catherine (from school) and Audrey, Bret, Mr. Jenkins, Mrs. Morris, and Mrs. Nelson (not from school) are the matches that lit my fire.
